Mystery Academy registration begins Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014.

All of our Arlington County Camps are $230 per week
and run Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
After Care is available 3:00 - 5:00 pm for $50 per week.

Mystery Academy Magic Ages 5-10
Focusing primarily on the Performance Art of Magic, students train in a variety of forms of magic: sleight of hand, mentalism, apparatus and coin, as well as learning the basics of what it means to be a magician.  A variety of magical games, craft projects and activities accompany serious magic instruction.  A culminating performance allows students to perform an effect they have mastered in a close-up setting for parent and friends.  All supplies included.  Campers must provide their own snacks, lunch and beverages. Staff to participant ratio: 1:10

Mystery Academy is often sponsored by local Departments of Parks & Recreation, schools, early childhood development centers, art centers and other forward-looking institutions.

Summer Camps are mostly sponsored by local Parks & Rec departmernts and private camps.

After School Programs: Have your PTA contact us for information on sponsoring a Magical Fun Class or Mystery Academy at your school!

CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

Magical Fun 
Ages 5-7
Attention Beginning Wizards! Younger children learn magic tricks as well as puppetry and magic-themed craft projects. This course aims to develop art appreciation, overcome stage fright, and build kinesthetic skills with magic props. Each child will develop their imagination and confidence while learning magical effects.  All supplies included in the cost. Campers must provide their own snacks, lunch and beverages. Staff to participant ratio: 1:10

Magic Performance  
Ages 8-11

Circus Fun  (aka Junior Carnival)
Ages 5-7
This program is geared for younger children to have fun and experience a carnival atmosphere.  Lean to speak through a puppet, play carnival games, juggle handkerchiefs, paint your face to look like a tiger… and even learn a magic trick or two.  All these things happen at Junior Carnival.  Bring your happy face and get ready to have fun.   All supplies included.  Campers must provide their own snacks, lunch and beverages. Staff to participant ratio: 1:10

Circus Arts (aka Carnival Camp)
Ages 8-10
Children will learn puppetry, magic, balloon sculpture, face painting, object painting, juggling, skit comedy and much more! they will learn and play carnival themed games and put on a performance for parents demonstrating a variety of vaudevillian skills. All supplies are included in the camp fee. Campers must provide their own snacks, lunch and beverages. Staff to participant ratio: 1:10

Magic Crafts
Ages 6-10
This camp is designed for children who are interested in constructing their own props, tricks and magic apparatus in order to perform magic. make your own card tricks or learn how to make a magic box! Create and paint your own magic wand.  mixed media will be used to foster engineering skills as well as artistic creativity.  specific instructions on how to use the props are all part of this camp. this camp appeals to a wide age range. previous experience in magic is not required. All supplies are included in the camp fee. Campers must provide their own snacks, lunch and beverages. Staff to participant ratio: 1:10

Puppetry
Ages 6-10
Campers will be introduced to a wide array of puppets including bag puppets, shadow puppets, human puppets, marionettes, tribbles, sock puppets and improvisational puppets. emphasis will be on comedy and script writing for the puppets. parents are encouraged to come on the last day of camp to see a performance by the children.  All supplies are included in the camp fee. Campers must provide their own snacks, lunch and beverages. Staff to participant ratio: 1:10

Stage Magic
Ages 6-10
Stage magic is for campers who are interested in the performance aspect of magic. each camper will learn acting skills, stage direction, voice projection and audience management. Campers will work with bigger props and perform tricks on stage with a larger audience in mind.  the campers will work on developing a stage performance that they can perform in front of their friends and family on the last day of camp.  previous experience in magic or performance is recommended but not required. All supplies are included in the camp fee. Campers must provide their own snacks, lunch and beverages. Staff to participant ratio: 1:10

Magic Camp: Intermediate
Ages 8-11
Are you an experienced magician? Are you looking to take your skills another step further? Then this is the camp for you.  Campers will engage in advanced sleight of hand and stage magic, expanding and enriching the basics of their knowledge. this camp is for veterans who have previously enrolled in another Mystery Academy Camp or course. Other campers may be admitted by permission of the instructor or by successful audition. All supplies are included in the camp fee. Campers must provide their own snacks, lunch and beverages. Staff to participant ratio: 1:10
REFUND POLICY
We will gladly refund your fees in full up to 14 days after your purchase. After 14 days, we can only refund in case of sickness with a signed letter from your child's physician. If your child cannot attend for any other reason, you may apply your fees toward any other Mystery Academy camp or after-school program.
